Not necessarily. A smoking chimney may be caused by several issues besides a dirty flue. An inspection and education from one of our chimney technicians typically finds a solution.
According to the National Fire Protection Association Standard 211, all chimneys and fireplaces should be inspected at least once a year to ensure structural integrity and safety. This is best done before the heating season begins. How often your chimney should be swept depends on the amount of build-up.
We recommend our customers burn local avocado, citrus and oak, which tend to be the cleanest burning woods. Pressed store-bought logs can be very convenient as well, but they tend to build up soon faster inside of the flue.
Anytime there is a crack which exceeds a dime's width, the panel MUST be replaced. A crack that size can allow heat to penetrate the wall and transfer into the sheet metal box it is housed in.
If the water leak is chimney-related, we can fix it. The exterior structure of your chimney can be resealed to prevent water from making its way into your chimney. We can also replace parts that are responsible for the leak.
Chimney cleaning removes the build-up of creosote, a byproduct of incomplete combustion that can ignite and start a fire in your chimney. Chimney fires are very dangerous and have the potential to do extensive damage to your home. Chimney cleaning can also spot maintenance or structural issues in your chimney system that may make your chimney unsafe for use. Proper and regular cleaning of your chimney enables your chimney to work as intended by the manufacturer and decreases the risk for potential fire hazards.
Chimney cleaning is a cost-effective way to make sure your chimney is in the best possible condition for use. This service keeps your home and family safer by removing the dangerous buildup of creosote from your chimney that could ignite.
Most cleaning is performed from the inside of your home using specialized equipment. Performing the cleaning from inside of the home allows for better control of airborne dust and particles. We perform several repairs to ensure your chimney and fireplace is safe for use. We perform refractory wall replacement, chimney crown repair, fireplace screen replacement, flue pipe reconnection, flue cap replacement and much more!
With normal use, the vent will accumulate lint particles. These lint particles grow into large masses of highly flammable lint. This mass creates a restriction within the vent and does not allow the dryer to properly remove the heat and moisture from the dryer. Drying times are increased as a result of the air not leaving the dryer fast enough. This lint can only be removed by a thorough, rotary cleaning. Air pressure alone cannot be relied upon to remove all of the lint.
Typically your dryer cycle will take 40 minutes, depending on what is being dried. Heavy towels and jeans etc. may take longer. If a typical load runs for more than an hour and they still are not dry, you may have a blockage in the dryer vent.
We utilize a rotory brush on flexible rods. This brush spins via drill motor, cleaning the walls of the duct gently, yet completely. Air pressure from the inside will push the lint outdoors, where we collect and dispose of the lint.
The service can vary in length depending on where the dryer vent is located and the severity of the blockage. The typical cleaning can range from 30-60 minutes.
We can service commercial laundries/businesses, town homes, condos, apartments, single family homes and multi-family units.
